Super common question! If you’d rather watch the answer, here’s a TikTok about it. If reading is more your thing, here’s the short version:
The only absolute requirement is closed-toe shoes. Other than that, wear whatever you’re most comfortable in.
Yes, the paint really does wash out of clothes. That said, what you wear mostly comes down to three things: how much you care about pain, heat, and bug bites.
- If you’re worried about pain, layer up. Sweatshirts, sweatpants, or any loose-fitting clothes help take the sting out.
- If you’re worried about heat, go lighter. Joggers with a t-shirt or tank are usually perfect.
- If bugs are your enemy, you can do what my friends call the “Max Suit”: rain jacket, rain pants, and a bug net over your mask.
We also rent coveralls for $15. They’re thick mechanic-style jumpsuits and are great if you’re heading somewhere right after playing.
Even though paint washes out, conditions can be muddy depending on the weather, so maybe don’t wear your favorite Gucci sweatshirt.
If you’re doing an activity that isn’t paintball, just dress for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are still required.
If you want to be extra, cleats are allowed, but regular tennis shoes are totally fine. There are paintball-specific pants if you want to go all out. We also see a lot of bachelor and birthday parties swing by a military surplus store for camo, which is always a good time.
In 2025 alone, we had two separate bachelor parties make their groom play in a chicken costume, which we wholeheartedly support.
