It’s 2026.
There is an imprint on my couch that may never fade.
My screen time report judges me weekly. I bounce from a medium screen, to a big screen, to a little screen, and then start the loop all over again. If this is a problem for me, someone who literally works at an outdoor recreation company, I can’t imagine what it looks like for everyone else.
I thank whatever higher powers exist that I grew up without a smartphone glued to my hand.
Which is why, at Champion Valley, we are officially declaring war.
The War on Couches.

Your Ass Is the Stop Button
An old personal trainer once told me:
“Your ass is where your stop button is. When you sit down, you don’t get back up.”
At the time I wasn’t sure if it was a personal attack or a cultural observation.
Either way, she was right.
The couch is comfortable. The algorithm is infinite. The next episode auto-plays. The scroll never ends.
But nothing memorable happens there.
Leave the Phone. Pick Up the Adrenaline.
We love that people want to document their experience with us. But honestly? We encourage you to leave your phone at the picnic table. Or better yet, in your car.
If you’re thinking about TikTok while paintballs are flying past your head, you might be beyond our help.
We’re trying to build experiences that make you forget about your screen entirely.
Sweat. Dirt. Competition. Stakes. Laughter. A little fear. A little chaos.
No video game can replicate that.
No VR headset can replace actual wind, actual mud, actual effort.
The Things You Can’t Download
When you get outside and do something with people, something changes.
You build connections:
- With nature
- With your friends
- With your coworkers
- With yourself
That kind of connection cannot be streamed. It cannot be swiped. It cannot be simulated.
It has to be lived.
So here’s your invitation.
Get up.
Get outside.
Go home when the street lights turn on.
We cordially invite you to join us.
Come fight in The War on Couches.
